Finalize video DVDs using Nero on a computer.

One of my customers came to me with a stack of DVDs that she has transfered from VHS tapes using her SONY DVD recorder. The DVDs can’t be played or read on any playback devices (DVD players or computer DVD-roms). This is because the video DVDs are unfinalized. A DVD (both data or video) has to be finalized so that it can be read by other software and devices. Most DVDs can be finalized using a DVD burning software, and Nero is one of the best.
Following is how to finalize a video DVD with Nero. In Nero Burning ROM, Select your DVD burner drive that has the un-finalized DVD±R, then click the “Disc Info” button (Ctrl+I), then when the information window opens, at the bottom there should be a “DVD R Options” button, click this and then choose “Finalize VR Disk”. After a few minutes your un-finalized DVD±R will now be finalized.
